Rensselaeronline.org is a privately owned website with a
civic-minded goal: Provide information about Renssealer
the City in NY. There are many interesting and fun things to do here in the capital
region. Let’s identify things that make Rensselaer
interesting.
- Publish an up to date review of local business
- Provide local calendar information, such as City hall hours and location.
- Provide contact information for local government
- Provide an open door for business and community involvement in a friendly and positive way
- Provide local event coverage and scheduling
- Provide some of the information lost when the city stopped hosting rensselearonline.com
This is a community driven website. The site owner has little time to dedicate to this project. It will be up to the community to participate.
How can you participate? In one of several ways:
Review a Rensselaer based company
Write an article promoting or reviewing a local special event (add it to the calendar!)
Provide city trivia
Have a room or apartment to rent? Describe it here with pictures if possible
Promote volunteer activities
Anything else?
Here are the Rules of participation here:
- This
is NOT an anonymous site. Participants will register with their first
names at the least. It is perfectly acceptable to register, as the site
owner did, as CraigW.
- During
the registration process you will be asked for a phone number. This is
important, since sometimes information will need to be updated regularly.
My phone number is 518-587-2606. Please identify yourself as calling about
the website rensselaeronline.org.
- This IS a good faith website. As in real estate “All information
deemed accurate but not reliable.”
- The site owner takes no liability for what you post, regardless of moderation
settings.
- There are two levels of contributors: Moderated contributors and Contributors.
This is because the site interface (aka drupal)
is complex and often evolving. I want to try to fit the posts into the
site as well as possible, as well as adding text or graphics. Spelling
counts.
- Moderated
contributors have their posts checked by Craig or authorized moderator
prior to post. Everyone starts out here.
- As
your knowledge in use of the interface grows, you may be allowed to post things
directly.
- Post because you want to inform, educate, or promote. Don’t post to harm, embarrass,or be vile.
- Have fun.
